The movement is officially underway. Dr. Deshawnda Williams, candidate for Pennsylvania State Representative in the 200th District, has announced her Campaign Kickoff Meet & Greet, and the entire Northwest Philadelphia community is invited to attend.
The event takes place on Wednesday, March 19, 2026, at 5:00 PM at 7700 Ogontz Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19150. Admission is free and open to the public.
She Made the Ballot — Now the Real Work Begins
Getting on the ballot is no small feat. It requires petition signatures, community organizing, legal filings, and a strong commitment to seeing the process through. Dr. Dee did all of that, and now she is officially a candidate for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, 200th District.
This kickoff event celebrates that milestone and marks the official start of a people-powered campaign to bring Dr. Williams to Harrisburg. It’s a chance for the community to come together, connect, and show that the 200th District is ready for real representation.
Who Is Dr. Deshawnda Williams?
Dr. Deshawnda Williams, known throughout Philadelphia as “Dr. Dee,” is no stranger to service. She is a pastor, licensed clinical social worker, educator, author, and community advocate with over 25 years of hands-on experience serving more than 10,000 Philadelphians.
She holds a Doctor of Ministry from Palmer Theological Seminary, a Master of Clinical Social Work from Tulane University, a Master of Education in Special Education from Arcadia University, and a Bachelor of Arts from Wheaton College. Before her career in ministry and social work, she was an 8-time NCAA Track and Field Champion and 13-time All-American, truly a champion in every sense.
Dr. Williams has served as the 1st Vice President and Health Committee Chair of the Philadelphia Branch NAACP, and she has been recognized as a key faith leader and mayoral appointee in the City of Philadelphia. She is the CEO of On The Right Track Consultants, LLC and the founder of Purple Queen Publishing House.
She isn’t running for office just because it’s her turn. She’s running because her community can’t afford to wait.
What She’s Running On
Dr. Dee’s campaign is built on three main pillars that address the everyday realities of families in the 200th District:
Economic Advancement: Fighting for living wages, small business support, workforce development, affordable housing, and real economic opportunities for Northwest Philadelphia families.
Public Health: Expanding access to mental health services, addressing gun violence as a public health crisis, and advocating for health equity across the communities she will serve.
Social Justice & Equality: Reforming systems that have long disadvantaged Black and Brown communities, championing education equity, supporting re-entry programs, and making sure every resident has an equal voice in decisions that affect their lives.
Her campaign slogan says it all: “Stand For Me, So I Can Sit For You.”
About the 200th District
The Pennsylvania 200th Legislative District includes some of Northwest Philadelphia’s most beloved and historically significant communities, such as West Mt. Airy (19119), West Oak Lane (19138), and parts of Germantown (19144) and the Stenton corridor (19150). The district covers Wards 9, 10, 21, 22, and 50.
These communities are rich in culture, faith, and civic pride, and they deserve a State Representative who reflects that spirit and fights for their interests in Harrisburg every day.
